FUMC Foundation

Since its inception in October of 1986, total assets have increased over each 10 year period as follows:

  • 12-31-1986 $7,200.00
  • 12-31-1996 $52,593.00
  • 12-31-2006 $267,919.00
  • 12-31-2007 $303,065.57

Growth has come from generous gifts and prudent management of those gifts. As a results, during this 20 year period, the Foundation has been able to provide over $35,200.00 for the ministry of the Methodist Church.

Requests for funding are reviewed and disbursed from a portion of the revenue earned during the previous year; the principal amount of the assets is never disbursed.

Your Foundation has:

Enhanced our ministry and outreach by providing mission and seminary scholarships and funds for guest lecturers.

Provided over and above resources for our facilities, including a new playground, furnishings, pew Bibles and equipment.

Encourged all of our members to be better stewards of our resources through sponsorship of the Godd Sense Workshops.

Help our church avoid conflicts over money.

Provided a permanent vehicle to meet the long-term needs of our church.

Gifts to the Fredericksburg United Methodist Foundation are tax deductible. Bequests, life income gifts and other donations of value are generally exempt from Federal Estate and Gift taxes.

Statement of Purpose

The FUMC Foundation is established to provide a means through which enduring charitable gifts will become a living memorial and perpetual source of financial support to benefit the church and its programs. It is the vehicle for receiving and managing gifts that look to the future and enhance the ability of the church to promote its ministries and care for its property.
