Dive 'N Deeper - Nov. 11-13

DND is taking on a new look this year as it will be led by students who have served in leadership within the SWTC Youth        Ministry. We will be engaging during the weekend in the lives of the least, that last and the lost in Austin by seeking                   opportunities in which to serve and make Christ known throughout the city. DND is open to all high school students in the Southwest Texas Conference. Cost is $80 per person and there are scholarships available!

Youth Food Drive
Friends and Family of Fredericksburg UMC. This week, we will be passing out paper bags for you to take home and fill with your non-perishable food items. Please  return these items next Sunday so our youth can take them to the food pantry to help restock their shelves before Thanksgiving. This is the time of year when many food pantries struggle to keep their shelves stocked. Our youth have found an excellent way to take care of this problem. Please Check the Dates on the food! We cannot donate out-of-date food.

ADVENT WORSHIP EXPERIENCES
Join us every Tuesday night at 7pm for a different way to worship and     prepare for the Christ-child. This service will be an opportunity to slow down during the season and focus on what really happened when God broke into our world. Our theme during Advent is Journey… each week will focus on a different journey in  Nativity stories.
The first will feature Mary – her journey to accept God’s will, how her obedience radically changed her plans, her hopes, her dreams. The second week will feature Joseph – his journey to accept the wild story from his fiancée, his journey to protect and provide for this new family. The third week will feature Mary’s journey to Elizabeth – where doubts and fears become faith and blessings. The fourth week will be the journey to Bethlehem – the difficulties of participating in God’s will. And Christmas Eve will focus on the    greatest journey of all – Christ’s journey to us.
Each week will have a time of worship, a brief devotional, and then time to go to different stations to reflect and interact with the Scripture in tactile ways. Every week will include the opportunity to walk our labyrinth as a guide for meditation and prayer and we will close by celebrating Communion. I invite you to make worship a priority during this Advent.

ADVENT STUDY—The Journey—Walking the Road to Bethlehem
Journey with Adam Hamilton as he travels from Nazareth to Bethlehem in this  fascinating look at the birth of Jesus Christ. As he did with Jesus' crucifixion in 24 Hours That Changed the World, Hamilton once again approaches a world-changing event with thoughtfulness. Using historical information, archaeological data, and a personal look at some of the stories surrounding the birth, the most amazing moment in history will become more real and heart-felt as you walk along this road.    Five Session    Advent Study, led by Rev. Jason Fry on Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6:30 pm beginning Tuesday, November 20.

November 20—Session 1 – Mary of Nazareth
November 29—Session 2 – Joseph of Bethlehem
December 6—Session 3 – Mary’s visit to Elizabeth
December 13—Session 4 – From Nazareth to Bethlehem
December 20—Session 5 – The Manger

OFFERING CHRIST TODAY FOR TOMORROW
On Sunday, November 13, we will focus on building the church for the future when The Rev. Adam Knight comes as a guest speaker to preach and lift up to us the work in the Southwest Texas Conference called “Offering Christ Today for Tomorrow,” a capital campaign to plant new congregations and revitalize existing ones. Rev. Knight is one of the pastors planting a new congregation in San Antonio and will share with us the impact our gifts have on that effort. We will have the opportunity to support this effort this Sunday.
