THE BRIDGE: Youth Ministries
Who are we?
We are anyone from the 6th grade through 12th grade.
When do we meet?
We meet on Sundays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30PM during the school year.
Is there food?
YES! We have a meal at every meeting on Sunday and Wednesday nights provided by volunteers at the church! No money required to eat. However, donations are always welcome!
Why Study the Bible?
As followers of Christ, it is important for us to be prepared for our journey to holiness. God has given us tools to equip ourselves with.
“Be Strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s Armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of unseen world, against mighty powers in the dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” Ephesians 6: 10-12
In order to be prepared it is important for us to study the word of God. As we read on in Ephesians 6, we are told to “take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.”
On Wednesday nights, we discuss scriptures and how they apply to our lives as students, ministers, human beings. We split up into our age groups (Jr. & Sr. High) and we search deep into the truth of God to find out what our purpose is and how we can help others to know Jesus as we do.
Why do we need each other?
Each of us has our own story. From our birth until now, we all have experiences which make us unique. There are parts of everyone’s story that are helpful to others.
In this Christian community we call The Bridge, we meet in order to share life together. We each are called to different things in life. Some of us are called to the ministry, while others are called to minister to God’s people in different ways. Like being a teacher, lawyer, doctor etc… The one thing connecting us all together is that no matter what we do, or want to do, we are all called.
Jesus came and told his disciples, “ I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28: 18-29
We are all called to discipleship. It is up to us, with the help of the scriptures and the Holy Spirit, to learn how to be a disciple of Christ.
What if I have more questions?
As a human being, I can tell you that I do not have all the answers. But that is the beauty of community. We each have gifts that work to make the body of Christ whole. If you have questions, this is a safe place to ask them. There is no judgment here.
If you would like to know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, and want someone to talk to, please feel free to call Bryan at the church or you could talk to one of our pastors by contacting the church office.
THE BRIDGE...
Before Jesus Christ, man was completely separated from God by the chasm of sin. After the fall, man tried to find ways back to God by doing good works and following the law to a T. However, God had a different plan. One that only requires us to accept a sacrifice; the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross.
The cross is what finally bridged the gap between God and man. We now have direct access to God. Those who accept Christ’s offering of grace are given passage across The Bridge.
We are on the journey. We are not perfect, yet. On this journey we encounter many obstacles and temptations that remind us of our days before The Bridge. This is why we meet. To walk together. This is why “church” exists. Not only to “recharge” our batteries but to share in the journey toward holiness that God calls us to.
